Over the past few months, most of us have had to completely change our work place to a home office. For some of us it has had a negative impact not only on our mood, but also on weight

Constant access to a fridge encourages snacking and in addition, taking into account all the restrictions and the weather outside we definitely limit physical activity. In this article we have gathered practical tips that will help you not to gain weight while working online from home.

It is important for the sake of our appearance, but especially for the sake of health.

How to take care of yourself when working remotely?

We have prepared some tips that will help you take care of your line while working from home. It’s a good idea to slowly introduce new habits while taking care of your well-being

  1. Go for a walk

When most of us worked outside the home, we provided ourselves with a small portion of exercise every day – walking to the subway or the streetcar, climbing the stairs… This unnoticed activity added up every day and helped keep us in shape

Now that we usually move between the kitchen and the living room, it’s worth taking care of ourselves deliberately. Try to get out of the house for at least 20-40 minutes every day – that’s over 3 hours a week! Walking around your neighborhood will benefit your health and well-being. It’s also a unique opportunity to discover interesting places near your home

  1. Plan your meal times

When working remotely, when most of us are freer to regulate the pace of individual tasks, it may be easier to make sure you eat regularly at set times. Sticking to a consistent eating time will better regulate your blood sugar levels, which affects your alertness and ability to concentrate. Moreover, with regular eating, it is definitely easier to refrain from snacking. Nutritionists recommend eating 4-5 small meals a day, keeping at least 3 hours between them.

  1. Introduce physical activity

We all know how difficult it is to get motivated to exercise at home. Due to the constantly changing conditions of using a gym, it is worth trying to break through and introduce the habit of training on your own. It is definitely better to gradually increase the length and intensity of exercises. This will keep you motivated for a longer period of time.

Initially, start with a 20-minute workout twice a week. You can easily find useful recordings on YouTube channels (we recommend Blogilates, among others). When this becomes too demanding, you can increase the time. Regular exercise has a positive effect on the body, but it also has an antidepressant effect.

  1. Limit sweets

A simple rule says that what the eyes do not see, the heart does not regret – this sentence perfectly applies also to snacking. Hide all sweets and do not keep candy bars near your workplace. This will definitely help reduce snacking.

Avoid buying cravings and highly processed foods to take home. This way, you will also avoid temptation until you finally stop missing them.

  1. Take care of your intestines

An efficient metabolic system is the basis for maintaining a good appearance and slim figure. Introduce fibre to your diet, which speeds up the work of your digestive system.

Additionally, remember to eat fresh fruit and vegetables and drink at least 2 liters of water a day

  1. Keep to calories

The basic rule to not gain weight is to take in fewer (or enough) calories than our body naturally needs in this mode of functioning.

With a sedentary way of working and less physical activity, caloric demand decreases. It is worth adjusting your diet accordingly and simply try to eat a little less. It is best to consult an experienced dietician who will help you choose a menu tailored to your preferences

Remember to keep healthy moderation. For the sake of a beautiful figure, but most importantly for our health, it is worth trying to maintain a well-balanced diet, avoid snacking, and most importantly, include physical activity in your daily activities
